A modern, hotel-casino and entertainment resort, Virgin Hotels is located east of the Las Vegas strip about a mile away. While you’re not right in the middle of the Vegas action, the vibe at this hotel is unique, eclectic, and fun.

The hotel refurbished the original Hard Rock Hotel location and opened for reservations in 2021.

Virgin Hotels Accommodations

This was my husband’s and my first time staying at this resort, featuring 1,504 rooms (the hotel calls “chambers”), with designs inspired by the Nevada desert landscape. Each chamber consists of two main sections: the dressing room with a lighted vanity, closet, large shower and plenty of space to get ready and the lounge, consisting of two queens or a king bed, lounge seating area and TV separated by a privacy door.

Rooms are divided between three hotel towers: Canyon Tower, Opal Tower, and the all-suite Ruby Tower which is the most upscale of the three options. Beds are incredibly comfortable, and lighting, the TV, and the thermostat is managed by smart-room controls via a mobile app. Despite the number of rooms here, the hotel gives off a much more boutique feel.

Hotel Amenities

The resort’s pool and spa area is designed to feel like a beach-style oasis rather than a typical crowded Vegas pool deck, offering two separate pools, mixing chill lounging areas with party-style spaces and a wellness club. The main pool offers a beach-entry design much like a walk-in shoreline. Multiple cabanas and beach-club spaces surround the tropical pool area that covers over five acres.

Kassi Beach Club is a 21+ Mediterranean-style pool experience with live DJs and music, lounge chairs and daybeds and a party atmosphere especially on the weekends. Located in the Ruby Tower, the Spa at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas focuses on wellness and relaxation with a variety of body and skin care treatments, waxing and beauty services, and a Roman-style bathhouse with a co-ed relaxation pool.

If you’re into the gambling scene, the property offers a 60,000-square-foot casino with over 40 gaming tables, approximately 650 slot machines and a sportsbook area.

The Theater at Virgin Hotels is an entertainment venue with about 4,500 seats featuring comedy shows along with pop, hip-hop, rock, alternative, Latin and international and country artist performances.

Dining at the Hotel

One of our biggest surprises was the dining options at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The resort offers five different culinary venues, and during our stay we experienced two that were quite impressive.

Nobu

This luxury Japanese restaurant chain was created to pioneer a new style of Japanese cuisine with a Peruvian flare. Nobu opened its first Las Vegas dining location in 1999 and the restaurants’ popularity and devoted following are a tribute to owners Robert DeNiro, Meir Teper and Chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s innovation in traditional Japanese cooking.

The restaurant offers a luxurious, yet relaxed open-air kitchen setting for dinner. Guests can either sit at the bar or at restaurant tables with views of the chefs creating impressive and elevated sushi dishes, cold and hot seafood and land entrees. The setting is romantic and upscale without feeling pretentious, and service is impeccable.

Not sure what to order? No problem, as the wait staff can guide you on choices to meet your palate, along with cocktails, wines and other beverages that complement your selections to a T. Be sure to try at least one sushi dish. Our yellowtail jalapeno was a delight for the palate.

Be sure to save room for dessert as the White Chocolate Pot De Crème is an amazing light finish to a delightful and unforgettable dining experience.

Kassi Beach House

Designed to create the feel of a care-free summer holiday on the Italian coast, Kassi Beach House provides a spacious yet intimate setting with poolside views. Guests can choose to sit indoors or out, and on a lovely spring evening, we dined outdoors surrounded by gentle breezes, lush foliage in a tropical setting. You’d never guess you’re in the middle of the desert here.

Open for brunch and dinner, the venue specializes in Mediterranean selections that include mezzes, appetizers, salads, pizzas and pasta dishes, along with more breakfast-forward offerings at brunch. After a shared mixed greens salad, my husband and I enjoyed a Pomodoro pasta with added meatballs and a Spicy Italian Sausage dish. Both entrees were perfectly prepared, delivered at an ideal temperature, and service here was impressive.

A variety of wines and classic cocktails provide the ideal accompaniment to a memorable dining experience.

Final Thoughts on the Hotel

Though we try to stay at different hotels and vacation clubs in Las Vegas on our visits (typically on or very near the strip), we found Virgin Hotels Las Vegas to be a welcome respite from the constant energy of the main drag. And it’s hard to beat the cool vibe of a Virgin Hotels property.
