We could all use more nights of peaceful slumber these days, and wellness travel continues to be at the forefront of 2025’s travel trends. How fortunate that a venue like Longfellow Hotel, Portland, ME’s premier wellness-focused, 48-room boutique hotel, inspired by the state’s timeless and rugged charm, has announced its inaugural Sleep Month series in March 2025, in honor of National Sleep Awareness Month.

With a mission to promote restorative rest, The Longfellow will host a curated lineup of sleep-enhancing events, educational talks and experiences designed to benefit both overnight guests and the local community.

Opened in summer 2024, The Longfellow is thoughtfully designed with sleep in mind, offering a guest room experience and property-wide amenities tailored for optimal rest. The hotel worked with Sleep Wise Consulting to create the ultimate sleep experience across all guestrooms.

Each room incorporates Mattress Concierge-selected mattresses made in New England by hand with high-density foam, Loftie alarm clocks and darkened indicator lights to ensure a good night’s sleep.

This March, the hotel will share its robust roster of expert partners and programming, debuting a schedule of sleep-focused programming and reinforcing its commitment to well-being.

“As a hotel designed with rest and rejuvenation in mind, we’re thrilled to launch Sleep Month as an annual tradition,” said Tony DeLois, Co-Founder and COO of Uncommon Hospitality. “Whether guests are looking for expert insights, transformative wellness treatments, or a restorative escape, our goal is to provide the tools and knowledge for a better night’s sleep.”

Expert-Led Conversational Series – The Longfellow’s inviting lobby will set the stage for engaging discussions featuring sleep experts from Sleep Wise Consulting, Loftie and Grace Farms. These sessions will explore trending topics in sleep science, wellness, and relaxation. Free and open to the public, the series offers valuable insights from experts who have played a key role in shaping the hotel’s sleep philosophy.  These include:

  • Sleep Wise (March 19 at 5:30 p.m.) – ‘Sleep Training Children with Confidence: Proven Strategies for Restful Nights’
  • Loftie (March 27 at 5:30 p.m.) – ‘Unplug & Unwind: How to Digitally Detox and Rethink Sleep Hygiene for Restful Nights’
  • Grace Farms (Virtual – Date and Time to Be Announced)

Sound Bath at Astraea Spa – On this year’s Spring Equinox, March 20, the The Longfellow’s on-site spa, Astraea, will host a Sound Bath experience. Utilizing the soothing vibrations of quartz crystal singing bowls, the session is designed to activate the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for the ‘rest and restore’ response, to encourage deep relaxation, stress reduction, and improved sleep quality.

Sleep-Focused Retail Pop-Up – Throughout March, Astraea will feature an exclusive retail pop-up with a hand-selected assortment of products to support relaxation and restful sleep. Featured items include Loftie alarm clocks, Voya ‘Mindful Dreams’ oil, Alice Nighttime Chocolates and more.

“Sleep Soundly at The Longfellow” Room Package – Visitors seeking a sleep-centric getaway can book a special Sleep Month package throughout the month of March. The package includes thoughtfully-curated products from Sleep Month partners to include a Loftie sleep mask, Loftie mouth tape and Grace Farms “Rest” tea; a Five of Clubs voucher for the melatonin-rich Amarelle cocktail, made with tart cherry, green tea and orange blossom to gently invite relaxation and a luxurious late check-out to savor every possible moment of rest.

Wellness & Sleep-Enhancing Treatments – Guests can immerse themselves in Astraea’s signature experiences that cater to rest-seekers. These include vibroacoustic meditation loungers, and rejuvenating treatments such as the Mindful Dreams Massage, which begins with an invitation to practice mindful breathing accompanied by rose quartz meditation stones, and a rhythmic Hawaiian and Balinese-inspired body massage paired with blissful face and scalp massages; as well as the newly-introduced Herbal Sleep Cocoon, which utilizes dry brushing, warmed lavender and rosemary body butter, and a comforting muslin wrap and warm blankets to release tension for a good night’s sleep.
