Beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado. A magnificent place to visit whatever the season. Located 80 miles from Denver, Breckenridge just happens to be one of our favorite Rocky Mountain small towns. Perched at an impressive 9,600-foot elevation, the area is encompassed by mountains and ski slopes. Though it’s most renowned for its winter sports, it’s simply stunning every time of the year we’ve visited.
And while I’ve stayed at different places in Breck, as the locals lovingly call it, there’s nothing that impressed me more than one particular vacation rental by owner in Breckenridge: the Bogart House.
As a frequent traveler, I subscribe to the notion that “location is everything.” And in such a lovely walkable town like Breckenridge, The Bogart House turned out to be the ideal location, close to restaurants, wine bars, breweries, and other activities. As an added bonus it’s just a few steps from the Free Ride in-town bus stop.

Layout of the House
The moment we walked through the front door, all we could say was “wow, you’ve got to be kidding.” Yes, we’d seen photos of the home prior to our visit, but these didn’t even begin to capture the magnificence of this impressive abode. Nothing here has been overlooked. The comfort and convenience of its guests are obviously Bogart’s top priority.
The main level of the home boasts hardwood floors, high beamed ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, and an expansive well-appointed living room with a large flat screen television, sound system and gas fireplace.
Bogart House enjoys spectacular views of Breckenridge’s ten-mile mountain range that remains snow-peaked most of the year. Waking up each morning to bluebird skies, refreshing scents of conifer, and brisk cool temperatures was almost heaven. The mountain and ski artwork donning the walls reflect the immense splendor of the Colorado Rockies.
Impressive Open-Air Kitchen
Cooking aficionados will adore the massive open-air kitchen with its granite counters, top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, and elegant drop lighting. This magnificent galley contains every cooking utensil imaginable. We had a great time gathering each morning for a fun and delectably prepared group breakfast. Those who weren’t cooking couldn’t resist being at the counter bar stools with their coffee or tea joining in on the lively conversation.
The spacious pantry had more than enough room to store all our foodie necessities, and since there are several grocery stores in town, we found everything we needed for our stay. In addition, an outdoor grill is available for those who love cooking on the ‘barbie.’
A bathroom was conveniently situated just off the kitchen and the mud room provided plenty of benches and hooks. The heated garage had more than enough storage for boots, skiwear, and skis.
About the Bedrooms
Each of the home’s five bedrooms are tastefully appointed, touting a private bath and full walk-in closet. We loved the magnificent master suite on the third level with a king bed, fireplace, and private deck.
A second bedroom on the same level has a queen-sized bed. The downstairs first level features three separate bedrooms with walk-in showers, a master king with a twin extra-long sleeper chair, a queen room, and queen bunk room ideal for kids or the younger crowd.
This downstairs area is like a house of its own with a large family/recreation room fully equipped with a flat-screen TV, DVD player, and arcade games. A wet bar with a wine refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher sits directly off the family room. Washers and dryers are located on both the first and third levels.
Just two blocks from the heart of Breckenridge’s downtown art district, the luxurious 5-bedroom, 5 1/2-bath 4,063 square-feet Bogart House can sleep 14 guests making it perfect for families, retreats, or reunions. Because this vacation home sits on three separate levels, everyone has more than enough space and breathing room.
This delightful light green and white classic Victorian with a modern mountain twist was built in 2017. Owner David Berger, a builder and real-estate developer says for years Breckenridge was the perfect getaway from Denver for him, his wife, and Bogart, their beloved family bulldog.
About The Bogart House
“Bogey” as the family called him loved frolicking in the summer sun and rolling in the winter snow. It didn’t take long for Bogey and the Bergers to fall head over heels in love with Breckenridge. Though Bogey passed away before the Bergers purchased their Breckenridge home, David says it was only fitting to call it the Bogart House in his honor.
We’re so glad the Bergers decided to share their home with visitors to Breckenridge! A popular ski town and a nature lovers’ nirvana, there’s nothing like having your own private outdoor hot tub to “soak in” the incredible mountain views and night-time skies after a day on the slopes or a mountain hiking or biking expedition.
With so much natural beauty, history, and cultural flavor, Breckenridge is a place you will definitely fall in love with. And staying in the perfect vacation home just seals the deal on an unforgettable vacation getaway.
