Situated on the southernmost point of South Carolina, Hilton Head Island is truly a Lowcountry paradise. Known for its 12-miles of pristine sugar beaches, marshlands, fishing, and golf courses, this magnificent island is a perfect place for a chilled, wind-down, laid-back vacation. At to make visitors feel even more relaxed, you won’t find a single neon sign or billboard on the island.
Palms mingle with live oaks, dogwood, pines, and it seems everything is draped in Spanish moss. Although the island covers on 42 square-miles, it has a spacious feel.
Marriott Vacation Clubs here dot the coast, and provide that home-away-from-home experience and convenience we love. One of our favorites is SurfWatch, an ideal combination of everything we adore about Hilton Head and the Lowcountry.
Our Favorite Vacation Rental in Hilton Head
Occupying a picturesque stretch of Atlantic shoreline, the SurfWatch vacation club is in an ideal Hilton Head location making it very easy to get around the island. The property is meticulously landscaped yet manages to blend perfectly into the surrounding natural habitat.
We love the private oceanfront location with a quiet stunning beach and miles of rolling sand dunes.

The check-process itself is a breeze. The main lobby resides in a plantation style building framed by trees, waterfalls and an idyllic lake with docks. Swings, benches and hammocks surround the grounds inviting guests to relax in comfort and enjoy the resort’s stunning bucolic ambiance. That was an immediate WOW factor that captured our hearts before we even entered the lobby entrance.
Because SurfWatch sports a concierge desk right there in the lobby, we had the chance to ask the concierge some valuable information about the area’s dining and activities before checking into our villa. That proved to be a big plus since it had been quite a while since our last visit.
Two and Three-Bedroom Villas in Hilton Head

The SurfWatch vacation rentals in Hilton Head feature two and three-bedroom villas with appealing courtyard, garden, and beach views. But no matter the view (which are all lovely), guests are a mere boardwalk stroll away from the magnificent Hilton Head beach fronting the resort.
Our two-bedroom, two-bath villa featured a king room with a walk-out to a large patio, and second bedroom with two queen beds. A pullout sofa bed in the living room area can accommodate two additional guests.
This Vacation Rental Boasts A Spacious Living Room and Kitchen

The décor throughout the villas details a classy island and beach theme with a lovely blend of coral, green, and blue shades. The spacious living room offers plenty of seating with a large flat screen TV with premium programming and a DVD player. It’s the perfect place for the family to gather, as is the outdoor patio just off the living room.
The fully equipped kitchen features marble-top countertops with counter seating and plenty of cabinet space. A separate dining area with high back chairs can accommodate six guests. For those who love to cook, this is a fabulous place to prepare meals and entertain.
Marriott SurfWatch Vacation Club Resort Amenities

Three pools are located on site—the Sea & Surf Club oceanfront pool adjacent to the beach with private cabanas and a children’s pool, High Tides Outdoor Saltwater Pool and Whirlpool, and much to our surprise, an indoor pool perfect for inclement weather days. A picturesque wooden boardwalk leads to the wide sandy beach.
A fitness center features a wide selection of workout equipment. We also loved the sports court, shuffleboard, putting green, and beach volleyball court. There’s even a children’s playground. Biking is a really popular activity on the island, and both day and weekly rentals are available on site.
For those into outdoor grilling, BBQ sites and picnic areas are available in each building of the resort. Sea Salts Beverage Company located at the oceanfront pool and bar, is open on a seasonal basis. Big kids and littles alike love the fire pits, especially when there are s’mores involved.
Though there are several grocery stores within a short drive of SurfWatch, a marketplace shop is located right off the lobby and check in area. This is great in case of an “oops, I forgot…” But we also loved the Starbucks coffee available here. Always a good way to start the day.
And don’t forget to check the sunset time. This is when you want to be on the beach to see the sun disappear below the horizon and the sky to light up in a myriad flaming color. It’s one of our favorites, and it’s spectacular.
Ideal Location on Hilton Head Island

One of the top reasons we love the SurfWatch vacation rental in Hilton Head, however, is that it’s also located on unspoiled natural tidal wetlands. Turtles, wading birds, opossum, racoons, and fiddler crabs are among a host of creatures who make these wetlands their home.
The resort is also in close proximity to the island’s myriad of shaded biking paths, nature trails, world-class golf links, harbor, restaurants, and the renowned candy-striped Harbour Town Lighthouse.
We love everything about Hilton Head, so much so, that we’re already planning our next visit to SurfWatch. Trust me, you’ll love it too!
