Visiting Sonoma, California in the fall is a magical experience.

Daytime inland temperatures in October often run 70-85 °F at the highest, and as fall marches on, November presents cooler days and nights dipping into the 40s-50s °F. Along the nearby Sonoma Coast, mornings often start foggy, but autumn tends to bring more stable weather with decreased fog and sunshine by midday.

Sonoma vineyards change from verdant green summer hues to golden amber, sometimes even a reddish cast, and the light tends to be softer, warmer and more romantic. Fall brings the harvest season (variable each year due to weather), along with picturesque hikes and scenic drives where forests and hillsides are ablaze in vibrant colors.

Farmers’ markets in the autumn are ideal for finding fresh seasonal produce such as apples, pumpkins and late-season vegetables.

For all these reasons, fall is a wonderful time to visit Sonoma County (my favorite time of year here), and charming vacation rentals only make the experience more unforgettable Here are some great choices I’ve pulled together for you.
