When Mark and Jennie Jackson traveled, they enjoyed staying in bed and breakfasts so much they decided to open their own, the Cozy Rose Inn in Grandview, WA.
Starting with one suite, the soon added another. When they heard a house in their area was scheduled to be torn down, they bought it for $1.00, moved it to their property, and restored it. A couple more suites were thus added.
With one final building addition, the Cozy Rose Inn transformed into the luxurious, relaxing retreat in the heart of the Yakima Valley it is today. Consider it the “perfect place for pampering and privacy.”
The Yakima Valley is approximately 140 miles southeast of Seattle.
Suites and Cottages

There are six suites at the Cozy Rose: The Secret Garden, Suite Surrender, Villa Vista and King Suites, the First Crush Cottage and Irish House. Each has its own distinct personality.
The Secret Garden Suite is in the midst of a charming garden with a relaxing fountain overlooking the expansive pasture and vineyards. Relax on your private patio or in the steam shower or Jacuzzi.
I stayed in the Suite Surrender Suite in the main house. It features an Italian theme and its front window provides a lovely panoramic view of the lower Yakima Valley. My favorite features were the walk-in rain shower and Jacuzzi. I’d been traveling the entire day, so I filled the Jacuzzi, turned on the jets, and didn’t move for 10 minutes!
Guests looking for ultimate privacy will love the Villa Vista Suite. It’s situated in the restored house next door and can be accessed through an arbor and down a winding sidewalk. You have a private rooftop deck for relaxing during the day and stargazing at night.
The King Suite is perfectly named because, well, it’s fit for a king. There’s an extra room with theater chairs, a 55-inch flatscreen TV, and a wall bed for another family member or friend. There’s also a TV in the bedroom in case one person wants to watch a football game, and the other a movie.
First Crush Cottage is ideal if you plan to bring Fido, Fluffy or your pot-bellied pig on your getaway. It’s a private, pet-friendly cottage with a soaking tub, separate shower, fireplace, and 65-inch Smart TV.
Irish House is a country cottage, and it’s perfectly named because it looks like a house you’d expect to see in Killarney or Kilkenny. With its spacious living room, dining room and full kitchen with bar, it’s ideal for young families or couples who want a lot of space to spread out.

A private outdoor deck includes a hot tub where you can enjoy magnificent views of the yard and gardens and expansive vineyards.
Note: this accommodation requires a three-night minimum stay and doesn’t include breakfast.
All suites include private baths, king-size beds, access to high-speed Wi-Fi, and amenities such as refrigerators, microwaves, Keurig coffeemakers, large flatscreen TVs, Sirius music stereos, DVD players, bidets and premium toiletries.
Made-to-Order Breakfast in Your Room
Jennie will gladly make your breakfast to order, and it can include your choice of French toast, huckleberry pancakes, scrambled or poached eggs, fried potatoes, ham scramble, fresh fruit, organic juices and coffee or herbal tea.
Mark delivers it to your room or private deck. If you prefer, you can enjoy your breakfast in the sunny dining room that overlooks the front yard and garden.
Dinner and Snack Packages
The Cozy Rose Inn offers special-order snack and dinner options if you know you’ll be hungry when you arrive or want a snack or dinner after returning from a long day of sightseeing; guests will want to order these in advance.
The Roses and Chocolate package includes a dozen red roses and a box of mouthwatering Chukar Cherry Chocolates. Chukar Cherries is a local, family-owned company that produces cherry, chocolate and nut treats using regionally-sourced fruit. I sampled their products during a factory tour, and they’re absolutely delicious!
The Meat & Cheese Board with Champagne includes a charcuterie full of assorted meats, cheeses, almonds, toasted artisan crackers, fried capers and various dried fruits. The grand finale is Double Chocolate Cake topped with fresh strawberries.
The Cozy Rose also offers a “Steak you Make” option for guests who like to barbeque. They supply the steaks. You grill them and bring your own side dishes and fixings.
All dinner and snack packages require advance reservations.
Guests can relax on the patio or in the gazebo or play on the swing in the front yard.
Those who stroll around the picturesque grounds will meet Micky and Minnie, the frisky resident cats, three Rhode Island red chickens, and four friendly horses, Lucy, DeeDee, Eddie Doublerunner and Horse with No Name.

Yakima Valley Activities

There are several restaurants about half a mile from the Cozy Rose Inn. Many more eateries and interesting shops can be found in Prosser, about 10 minutes away.
In an area with over 300 sunny days per year like the Yakima Valley, people want to enjoy the great outdoors. The Cozy Rose Inn is minutes away from several hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. The Black Rock Creek Golf Course, an 18-hole, par-72 course, is a five-minute drive.
The Yakima Valley has nearly 80 wineries and many are nearby. Côte Bonneville and Co Din Cellars are mere minutes away, and the Red Mountain Wineries are only a 15 to 20-minute drive.
If beer is more to your liking, stop at Horse Heaven Hills Brewery and Perfect Circle Brewing in Prosser or Varietal Brewing and Snipes Mountain Microbrewery in Sunnyside.
Farm-to-table is a lifestyle in the Yakima Valley and farmer’s markets, farm stands, orchards and u-pick berry patches dot the countryside.
If you’re planning a trip to the Yakima Valley, or live in the Pacific Northwest and need the perfect place for an elopement wedding, romantic weekend getaway, or girls’ weekend, check out the Cozy Rose Inn and let Mark and Jennie pamper you.
