Moose Meadow Lodge Tree House Rental

Nestled high above the ground, the enchanting Moose Meadow Lodge Tree House beckons with its rustic charm and modern amenities, creating an idyllic blend of adventure and relaxation. With its spacious wraparound decks, cozy interior, and panoramic views of the forest canopy, every inch of this unique retreat in Waterbury, VT promises an unforgettable connection with nature.

Property owners Willie and Greg have one singular mission for their guests: to ensure an exceptional stay. Greeting every visitor with a hug and a smile, arriving at Moose Meadow Lodge and Tree House is like reuniting with old friends.

Their warm hospitality, testament to their care and dedication, is evident from arrival to departure, taking great pride in creating a memorable stay. You’ll feel like part of the family from the moment you arrive.

As Greg loaded my luggage onto a golf cart for the trip back to the treehouse, he explained how each aspect of the lodge and treehouse was sustainably crafted. Having chosen each tree, branch, and limb to create this magical woodsy feel, the couple created a one-of-a-kind home away from home to share with visitors. Their commitment to sustainable living is genuinely inspiring.

As the tree house came into view, my excitement was palpable. Before arriving, Greg detoured around the pond to allow me a view from a distance. The double-decker balconies wrapping around the massive pines stood waiting for my arrival.

I felt my inner child stirring with glee and couldn’t wait to see inside.

Whimsical Details Enhance the Tree House Stay

Climbing the exterior staircase to the first-floor wrap-around deck, I began to feel the vibration of the forest surrounding me. The mountain air was crisp and clean, and the sun glistened on the pond in front of the tree house. At that moment, I was caught between wanting to sit and stare at this gorgeous setting for hours and continuing to explore every inch of my overnight accommodation.

The first floor boasts a cozy living and dining area with a loveseat and table for two. Bookshelves hold several reading options, cards and a few games. The treehouse has no television, Wi-Fi, or cell service, as taking a digital detox is encouraged. An electric woodstove-like heater helps keep visitors comfortable when there’s a chill in the air. A coffee pot and all the needed supplies make it easy to brew a cup whenever you please.

Outside, on the far side of the deck, is an intricately carved stone sink with filtered hot and cold running water. An outdoor shower and an incinerating toilet make tree house living modern and effortless. You’ll find everything you need, from towels to soaps and shampoos, and hot water arrives in seconds.

Taking the spiral stairs to the second floor, I was eager to see where I’d sleep that night. Under a beautifully crafted vaulted wood ceiling is a comfy queen-sized bed with hand-carved nightstands on either side. Outside on the deck is a suspended hammock chair, perfect for napping in the trees.

Exploring the Property

Now that I had explored inside, it was time to take to the trails. Greg and Willie created a handy property map outlining the trails and highlights on their 86-acre piece of paradise. I chose to hike to the “sky loft,” a little less than a mile from the treehouse. Greg explained that the last half of the trail is somewhat steep in elevation but shouldn’t be a problem for an experienced hiker.

Reaching the summit took some effort, but the handy rope railings made the last part of the climb manageable. Once at the top, I was so glad I chose this trail. The sky loft is a small round building erected at the top of the property where visitors can sit and view the distant mountains or even camp overnight in the sleeping loft.

There’s no electricity or facilities in the sky loft, but the views make it tempting to want to linger. Only the sights and sounds of nature surround you, offering a magically peaceful place to write, meditate or drink in the fresh mountain air.

Don’t forget to glance through the guest book, where you’ll read messages written by visitors from across the globe who have previously spent time in the sky loft.

A Treehouse Massage

Guests can schedule a massage when booking a stay in the treehouse. Willie, a certified masseuse, arrived with a portable table and all of the essentials. Adding this experience was a great way to enhance my relaxation.

There’s nothing quite like having a relaxing massage in such a unique setting. This, to me, is what wellness travel is all about.

Spending a Night in the Trees

Crickets chirped, and barred owls called to one another as night fell. Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine, I noticed that the only sounds I could make out were those of the nature surrounding me. You won’t hear any street noise or witness any light pollution. On a clear night, the starry sky here is indescribable.

As morning broke, I made coffee and listened to the birdsongs greeting the day. Breakfast would arrive by 8:45 a.m., playfully dubbed “tree service.” I didn’t think there could be anything that could make this experience more memorable. But nature had one last treat in store for me!

Grabbing an outdoor shower on the elevated deck surrounded by towering trees, I looked across the pond and, to my sheer delight, spotted a momma black bear and her three cubs playfully enjoying the morning sun. I watched as the cubs trotted behind, never letting Mom out of sight. I felt like I was in a fairy tale come true.
