Sister Bay, a charming village towards the north end of Door County, is a great location to make your home base on the picturesque peninsula. Situated on the shores of the Bay of Green Bay, one of the largest freshwater inlets in the world, Sister Bay is known for its charming downtown area, outdoor recreational activities, and beautiful waterfront. Marina View vacation rental in Door County places guests in the heart of town.
Door County is known as the “left thumb” of Wisconsin, a peninsula on the east-central side of the state.
What Door County Is Famous For
The picturesque county is renowned for its number of lighthouses dotting the shoreline of Lake Michigan. It’s home to countless apple and cherry orchards, art galleries, the oldest professional resident summer theater in the U.S., shopping boutiques, whitefish, fish boils, and locally-made cheese.
The Green Bay Packers play one county over.
As a solo female traveler, I noted how safe and secure I felt throughout my trip and at my vacation rental condo.
Vacation Rentals Sister Bay, WI
While driving on Bay Shore Drive, I quickly found the Marina, with my lodging located directly across the street. Eager to look inside, I jumped out of the car, found the elevator, and entered the condo.
When I saw the welcoming sign in the entry hall, “This is our happy place,” I knew I was exactly in the right place.
Non-touch check-in was easy. Mark, the condo owner, was very responsive by text and phone. He was generous with his time and knowledge of the area and provided background on the village and the county.
Built in 2019, the Marina View vacation rental in Door County is a condo with modern styling and amenities making it a perfect home away from home. The family-owned, spacious, three-bedroom home can sleep up to eight guests, and has an excellent water and marina view. The upscale and luxurious furnishings and amenities were the best I’ve experienced on the peninsula.
Mark said he chose this location because it’s an easy walk to everything in downtown Sister Bay.
Marina View Amenities
In the fully-stocked kitchen, I found stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a Keurig coffeemaker. All basic needs like spices, paper products, and coffee packs were also provided.
A large dining table with six chairs separated the kitchen and bar with four bar stools from the living room area. The stools are adjustable for guests wishing to sitting either at the bar or dining room table.
The condo also included a lovely gas fireplace and large Smart TV.
The wall of windows brought the stunning outdoor water and sunset views inside.
Two hallway bathrooms feature a tub/shower/toilet and a shower and toilet combination. Both sport a crisp, clean nautical theme as do all of the condo’s three well-appointed and spacious bedrooms.
I was delighted to discover a full-sized washer and dryer in the hall closet of this vacation rental in Door County, such a convenience while on vacation.
Guests can enter the covered balcony from the living room or master bedroom. The covered balcony is 13-feet by 13-feet with lighting, a fan, and seating with a table. This lovely space allows alfresco dining or working on laptops with unobstructed water views to the east and north.
Mark said he and his wife frequently work on the patio together when in residence.
Other Vacation Rental Amenities
Two reserved parking spaces for the unit are located and marked in the parking lot behind the property. Additional parking at the public lot is a short distance behind the property and accommodates trailer parking.
If you’re a boater, you can bring your boat to a marina slip where you’ll be mere steps away from the Marina View condo.

Things To Do in Sister Bay and Nearby
The Marina View condo’s central location is a distinct advantage for enjoying this popular area. Outdoor activities abound with beach swimming, playground and picnic areas, boat rentals and guided excursions.
Waterfront Park, Sister Bay Marina, Sister Bay Beach, Sister Bay Dog Park, Pirate’s Cove Adventure Golf, and Frykman Studio Gallery are less than a mile away.
Short drives to other destinations on the peninsula include the Door County Coastal Byway, a scenic 66-mile loop in the Niagara Escarpment bluffs, the Bay of Green Bay, and Lake Michigan. Five state parks with bike trails, hiking, nature and incredible views are located within Door County, and only one does not allow camping.
Of real convenience for guests, the Door County Trolley offers a variety of trolley tours from neighboring Egg Harbor. The best way to see this lovely area is by trolley when you visit.
Favorite Restaurants in Sister Bay
Guests will find plenty of restaurants, friendly bars, coffee, ice cream and candy shops. Two of my favorite restaurants just happen to be steps from the Marina View vacation rental in Door County.
Al Johnson’s Swedish Restaurant & Butik is known for its world-famous live goats grazing on the roof during the tourist season. The highlight of my trip to Door County was seeing these goats – quite unusual.
Chop, an American Steakhouse, is open year-round and features steaks, seafood, and cocktails.
