There’s a timeless beauty and enchantment about Sedona, Arizona that’s almost indescribable. With views that take your breath away, this geological wonderland is one of our favorite places to unplug and unwind. As if sculpted in shades of crimson stone, Sedona’s red rock massifs tower against verdant hillsides and cerulean skies. Located only two hours north of Phoenix, it feels more like a universe away.

I consider myself more of a beach person than a mountain gal, and yet, I can never pass up the opportunity to return to Sedona – for its beauty reaches far beneath the surface. The Yavapai Apache tribe consider this area to be sacred, and seven supposed energy vortexes draw spiritualists and those who come for a personal dose of Sedona’s magic.

Whether one believes in the energy of the vortexes or not, there’s no doubt Sedona has been blessed by Mother Nature with an unbelievable dose of beauty and serenity. Everyone who visits here can sense that magical pull.

And don’t let anyone kid you that views don’t make a difference. They certainly do here, and that’s exactly why we chose to stay at Hyatt Residence Club Piñon Pointe, a wonderful vacation rental in Sedona.

Piñon Pointe is a residential-style condominium property surrounded by Sedona’s stunning red rock landscapes. The multi-leveled tree-covered grounds provide magnificent views along with plenty of privacy. One of benefits of the club is its close proximity to downtown Sedona, a mere 5-minute stroll from the resort.

109 villas here feature a mix of one and two-bedrooms, and studio suites. Our one-bedroom luxury villa included a master suite with a king bed, a large connecting bath with walk-in shower and jetted spa tub. Studios are 350-square feet with a queen-sized bed and sleeper sofa while two-bedroom units feature a master suite and guest suite with a queen bed and sleep sofa and two full baths.

Beautiful Southwestern Décor

We hold the belief that a vacation rental should always fit the area in which it’s located. And Hyatt Residence Club Piñon Pointe does just that–to perfection. The Southwest décor and color scheme with reds, oranges, gold, and deep tans throughout the villa beautifully compliments the landscape. Dark wood furniture adds just the right touch.

Open Living Room and Fully-Equipped Kitchen

We loved the openness of the separate living room area. A stone gas fireplace was ideal to warm us a bit after a chilly evening return walk from town. A large outdoor patio with a table and chairs offers an additional place to relax, dine, or just toast the sun setting gloriously behind the mountains.

The fully-equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops is located just off the living room area and has bar seating as well as a dining room area that can comfortably seat six. So, there’s plenty of room for family and friends to gather for breakfast, lunch, or dinner in this perfect home-away-from home. For those who love to grill, there are gazebos to cook your food along with sheltered tables for outdoor dining.

Just off the kitchen area, there’s also a washer and dryer. This worked out great for us after an active day of hiking in Sedona’s mountains and streams.

A popular feature of the resort, and one of our favorites, is its large stunning heated outdoor pool. With ample comfortable lounge seating for sunning or relaxing under the pool umbrellas, it’s a great place to chill, sip a cocktail, and relish the impressive surrounding landscape. There are also two heated spas and accompanying fire pits on site.

A tennis court, fitness center with steam room, pool table, and ping pong table are also available for guest enjoyment. An on-site concierge is happy to answer questions and provide helpful information about area attractions and dining.

We also loved the shopping area of Piñon Pointe, located on property where you’ll find a Starbucks, a bakery serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a full-service restaurant with killer views and live music. A host of other boutique shops feature clothing, gifts, jewelry, and art galleries.

What to Do in Stunning Sedona

We suggest having a car in Sedona for the sake of ease of getting around to all there is to experience here. Another of our favorites is jumping onboard one of Pink Jeep’s Adventure Tours that takes visitors off-road and up close and personal to impressive red rock formations and spires.

Hiking is the rage here, with trails ranging from easy to challenging. Oak Creek Canyon features miles of streams, some perfect for wading, others ideal for rafting. The art galleries in town are phenomenal, shopping opportunities abound (especially in the scenic Tlaquepaque Village) and dining with a view is an absolute must-do. Lastly, let’s not forget another of the main reasons that visitors flock to Sedona. It’s magical, magnificent Arizona sunsets are simply unforgettable.

Oh, and about the vortexes and their mystical energies? That’s something each person has to figure out for themselves. But if you can feel it, then believe it.
