Miami Beach is a world-renowned destination where turquoise waters, powdery sands and vibrant Art Deco architecture set the stage. While South Beach is famed for its iconic pastel buildings, those looking for a more chill yet still central experience can find their sweet spot in Mid-Beach. This neighborhood strikes a perfect balance between South Beach’s sensory stimulation and North Beach’s tranquility.

Mid-Beach, stretching from 24th to 60th streets, is home to some of Miami’s most stylish hotels, acclaimed restaurants, and cultural gems, all set against a backdrop of golden sand and swaying palms. The boardwalk stretches miles from north to south along the beach, a paved pathway lined with mangrove trees providing shelter from the tropical sun. The sands are dotted with hotel beach chairs, umbrellas, and colorful lifeguard stands.

Hotel Trouvail: A Historic Art Deco Hotel

Due to a booking disaster with another hotel, I stumbled upon Miami Beach’s Hotel Trouvail, which turned out to be serendipitous. My partner and I were lucky enough to sneak in, thanks to their excellent concierge. Florian Fischer, Front Desk Manager, Lead Concierge, and Les Clefs d’Or USA member, was the perfect host. It was Art Week Miami and everything was booked.

The property is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s collection of the finest historic hotels in the United States. Hotel Trouvail is a standout destination for travelers seeking a blend of historic charm, stylish decor, bistro cuisine, and unbeatable proximity to the Miami Beach boardwalk.

With its Euro-Miami ambiance, oversized rooms, secluded outdoor pool, and thoughtful touches like complimentary beach essentials, the venue offers guests a peaceful oasis that feels worlds away from the crowds, yet keeps the best of Miami Beach within easy reach.

Hotel Trouvail is steeped in Miami Beach history, occupying a beautifully restored Art Deco building originally designed by famed architect L. Murray Dixon. Established in 1940 as the Greenbrier Hotel, the property has been thoughtfully reimagined, preserving its architectural pedigree while infusing contemporary comfort.

The design pays homage to its past with a light pastel palette, green sponge-painting, retro accents, and Bellino fine linens, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels nostalgic and fresh.

Its 71 rooms are generously oversized compared to typical Miami Beach standards and feature residential-style layouts, many with kitchenettes. Retro touches like Smeg refrigerators add a playful nod to mid-century design, with large windows, and curated furnishings. The Nespresso coffee maker and microwave were a welcome touch. Hotel Trouvail is a charming Miami Beach pied-à-terre.

The hotel’s bistro bar is a highlight, showcasing a French-inspired menu with classics such as Croque Monsieur Champignon and Chicken Paillard Francaise. Enjoy your meal indoors in their spacious, bohemian lobby, on the creek-front patio, or poolside, soaking in the lush tropical ambiance. The bar is also known for its bespoke cocktails like their Ginger Caipirinha.

We enjoyed the food and people so much that we ate there almost every day of our 10-day stay! Our favorites were the Avocado Toast, Yoghurt Chia Parfait, Poke Nachos, Classic Caesar Salad, and Margherita Pizza.

Hotel Trouvail also has a lovely pool with Indonesian vibes. The umbrellas are Bali-style, with banana plants, bamboo, ferns and low ground cover. The back table was perfect as a workstation for writing and video editing.

The hotel is pet-friendly, with a one-time $150 fee for dogs up to 30 pounds. Their pet-loving staff will spoil your furry friends with organic treats, toys and luxurious beds all their own. Visitors can arrange dog-walking services for a fee with the front desk.

One of Hotel Trouvail’s greatest assets is its location. Situated on Indian Creek Drive, the hotel is in the Faena Cultural District, close to the Faena Forum. It’s just steps from the Miami Beach boardwalk and the Atlantic, making it an ideal base for beachgoers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Guests enjoy complimentary umbrellas, chairs and towels for their beach outings, and the hotel even offers cooler bag lunches to take along for a day by the sea.

The property’s central position is within easy reach of Lincoln Road, the Art Deco Historic District, and South Beach, ensuring easy access to art, culture, shopping, and nightlife.

Complimentary bicycle rentals make it easy to explore the neighborhood, while $37 overnight parking (rare in Miami Beach) and proximity to major airports add convenience for travelers. It’s close to the 41^st Street Bridge, a major artery across the Indian Creek Waterway leading to downtown Miami.

Nearby Restaurant Recommendations

Hotel Croydon’s Tavern Restaurant is open until midnight. It features a large patio deck, ideal for a tropical night. Its steamed mussels and coconut shrimp are tasty, as are the authentic Cuban sandwiches and Angus beef burgers. Try the Whole Fish of the Day with herbed lemon sauce. It’s flavorsome and prepared either roasted or crispy.

Casa Faena’s Campo is a Latin-inspired delight serving fresh, sustainable fare. It’s a fantastic spot for vegans with dishes like the Homestead Farms Cauliflower main with thyme and Jerusalem artichokes. The avocado salad is light and refreshing, with heirloom tomatoes and sweet lime Thai vinaigrette—add your protein of choice. The pink Key West Shrimp complements nicely. Sushi is on the menu on Friday and Saturday nights.

Ocean Social at the Eden Roc is a favorite. With beach views and sustainable dining, it’s a wonderful place to meet friends. Fresh orange juice mimosas are the perfect way to start the day. The Arepa Benedict with poached organic eggs, smoked pork, black bean puree, and naranja agria hollandaise is a tasty play on a traditional Benedict. Kimchi Fried Rice with charred cabbage and a slow-cooked egg goes fantastically with a cerveza. The American Wagyu Sirloin with black garlic and truffle whiskey sauce, cooked medium rare, is absolutely ambrosial.
