Upon arrival at the Hadley Resort and Marina, you’ll find yourself slowing down and breathing deeper as you are greeted by its charming atmosphere and friendly staff. The resort has stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and comfortable outdoor gathering spaces.

Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway or an adult sibling vacation, as my visit was, the Hadley Resort and Marina offers an array of activities, a modern beach house feel – and very comfortable linens to boot.

Islamorada Water Sports

One of the highlights of the Hadley Resort and Marina is the marina itself. Situated on a beautiful slice of waterfront, it offers docking facilities for six small or medium-sized boats. You’re welcome to bring your own boat or rent one, or rent a jet ski, at the marina.

The marina jetty is a great place to cast a line and try your hand at catching a Wahoo or Florida Pompano, as the fishing in the Florida Keys is world-renowned. Whether you’re an avid water adventurer or simply want to explore the beautiful surrounding islands, the marina provides easy access to the sparkling waters of the Florida Keys.

Hadley Resort and Marina guests can further indulge in a wide range of water recreation such as snorkeling, scuba diving or kayaking. Paddle boards and kayaks are available for guests to use at no additional charge.

Besides offering boat rentals as noted, the resort can arrange day trips allowing visitors to explore the spectacular beauty of the surrounding coral reefs and marine life.

After a day of ocean exploration, guests can unwind by the resort’s heated swimming pool. Surrounded by lush tropical gardens and towering Southern Oak trees, the pool area provides a serene setting to soak up the sun or enjoy a refreshing swim.

I found it a lovely place to gather for happy hour.

What to do in Islamorada

Bicycles are also available for hotel guests to use at no additional charge. This is a great way to explore Islamorada. Beyond the resort’s facilities, the town of Islamorada itself offers a variety of attractions and activities.

Walk or bike to numerous art galleries and boutique shops with unique and often funky offerings, or visit the nearby Theater of the Sea with its lagoons and lush gardens. These habitats are home to dolphins, sea lions, sea turtles, fish, sharks, stingrays, alligators, and a myriad of birds.

The Theater of the Sea’s mission is to provide a safe home for its wildlife while sharing them with visitors in up close and personal shows and interactive programs. Scuba enthusiasts will love The History of Diving Museum, with its detailed and historic exhibits.

Multiple state parks are just a short drive from the Hadley Resort, offering hiking opportunities. At Windley Key Geological State Park, you can trek through the remains of quarries where the coral rock was harvested to create the first elevated railroad. You’ll also find fossilized coral and shells along with abandoned mining equipment along the trails.

At Curry Hammock State Park you can hike a nature trail that brings to life how the Keys were created and the fragile ecosystem they support. If you’re looking for a longer trek, hiking or biking all or part of the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail provides breathtaking views.

There are several beautiful beaches a short drive from the Hadley Resort including Anne’s Beach and Founder’s Park Beach, or the quiet Islamorada Library Beach. All are perfect for lounging and soaking in the tropical sun, toes in the sand.

The fun continues after dark where the vibrant nightlife ensures there’s never a dull moment. Lorelei Restaurant and Cabana Bar have live music every evening. My husband and I love getting there just before sunset, enjoying a cocktail and tunes as we watch nature paint the sky oranges and pinks.

Another favorite is the patio at Islamorada Brewery. Here you can sip on locally brewed beer while enjoying a local band. Both are within walking distance from the Hadley Resort.

Where to Dine in Islamorada

Seafood is king in the Florida Keys with lobster, stone crab claws, and fresh fish on the menu during their seasons. Many restaurants offer a “cook your catch” option for fishermen. Some of our favorite spots for seafood include Lorelei Restaurant, Wahoo’s Bar & Grill and Lazy Days.

My husband and I also enjoyed a delicious anniversary splurge dinner at Chef Michael’s.

Meza Morada has outstanding, budget-friendly, Mediterranean offerings for lunch. If you enjoy Mexican cuisine do not miss the tacos at Tacos Jalisco 2 at the Florida Keys Brewing Company.

A definite not-to-be-missed restaurant is the Hungry Tarpon at Robbie’s. Robbie’s is an iconic Florida Keys stop, with gift shops, boat and kayak rentals, snorkeling day trips and tarpon feeding. The Hungry Tarpon sits amid this sprawling vacation playground.

The entrees are outstanding whether you’re hungry for traditional seafood chowder and a fish sandwich, conch fritters and pan-seared black mussels, or Bloody Marys and burgers. The atmosphere is fun and the food is always fresh and delicious.

Hadley Resort and Marina in Islamorada is a slice of paradise in the Florida Keys. With its well-appointed accommodations, easily accessible marina, and a wide range of amenities and activities, it provides an unforgettable vacation experience. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or a romantic getaway, Hadley Resort and Marina is the perfect destination to create lasting memories.
