Set on a soaring bluff overlooking a pristine stretch of Laguna Beach and the Pacific Ocean, Marriott Newport Coast Villas offer guests a luxurious and relaxing stay on one of the most beautiful Southern California coastlines. You’ll find the sunsets absolutely stunning.
There’s so much to do at the vacation club resort itself, you may be hard-pressed to leave, but you won’t want to miss all that Newport Coast has to offer.
Newport Coast is just south of the city of Newport Beach. The lovely community encompasses the South Orange County coast between Corona Del Mar and Laguna Beach.
The area is home to Crystal Cove Beach, a 3.5-mile stretch of coastline popular with surfers and scuba divers with a myriad of hiking and water activities. Nearby, visitors will also find world-renowned shopping, prestigious yacht clubs, culinary delights and endless outdoor recreational opportunities.
Two Bedroom Villas at the Marriott Vacation Club

When I was looking to book a stay at this Marriott Vacation Club property, I was curious why it only had two-bedroom villas with no other choices of accommodations. I came to find out that when Marriott was planning the first units of its property in 2000, local zoning precluded the company from building anything less than two-bedroom units.
The benefit, however, is that a visit to this property means you’ll definitely get to spend time with family and friends, and everyone will have plenty of personal space.
The 70-acre hillside resort features 41 buildings ranging from two to four stories. Each building is inspired by Italy’s traditional hill towns and villages. This comes as no surprise, given that Newport Coast has similar weather to Italy’s Mediterranean. Balconies, roof overhangs, and terraces create an air of informality that is reflective of the casual lifestyle of a relaxing but upscale vacation getaway resort.
The vacation club resort offers sophisticated, comfortable, and spacious villa accommodations including a fully stocked kitchen, separate living and dining areas, a full balcony featuring either resort or coastal views, and two private baths along with a washer and dryer. The master includes a king bed and ensuite bath with a separate shower and jetted tub.
The second bedroom offers a double futon and queen bed with a shower/tub combination bath. With the addition of the living room sofa bed, the villa can accommodate up to eight guests.
Décor is classy yet understated including high-end furnishings and granite countertops in the kitchen and bath.
This resort provides a true home-away-from-home feel with just enough luxury touches to make guests feel pampered in a serene setting.

Resort Amenities

This sprawling, 75-acre enclave features three large outdoor swimming pools (Catalina, Canyons and Coastal) along with hot tubs and fire pits. A full fitness center offers a range of cardio and strength equipment. For those who covet their spa treatments on vacation, Spa by the Sea offers a full menu of therapeutic services including massages, facials and body wraps.
A free shuttle to historic Crystal Cove State Park on the coast is a popular ride in the resort’s open-air trolley. With its expansive beach and 2,400 acres of undeveloped coastal woodlands, this area is ideal for swimming, hiking and more.
For those who want to visit nearby Laguna Beach, one of my favorite SoCal beach town destinations, the resort provides shuttle service to this area.
At check-in, guests receive an activities calendar listing a number of fun activities for both adults and children. The calendar also includes information on the use of the tennis, basketball and pickleball courts, and putting green. The activities area also features a surf shack, coastal cinema, game room and sandbox play area.
Other welcome services include complimentary free wi-fi, parking, and, to the delight of visitors, no resort fees attached to your final bill!
Dining at the Marriott Newport Coast Resort
Though Newport Coast Villas does not offer a fine dining restaurant, you’ll find plenty such choices in the local area.
What my family prefers is the convenience of the La Vista Pool Bar & Grill, open for lunch and dinner, offering specialty cocktails, modern American fare and live music. This laid-back eatery located at the main pool has an extensive menu that includes appetizers, burgers, burritos, salads and seafood.
Some of our favorites are the poke bowl, chicken quesadilla, mahi-mahi sandwich and nachos. Tuesdays feature “make your own tacos” where you pick the ingredients and the servers will load them up for only $5 per taco.
Though there are plenty of grocery stores in the area to prepare your own meals in the villa or barbeque at one of the resort’s grills as an option, Newport Coast Villas has a lovely marketplace for drinks, snacks and other necessities, including local products for sale.
It’s easy to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Southern California at Marriott’s Newport Coast Villas. The setting, accommodations, amenities and location set the stage for a perfect family or friend’s vacation getaway.
