The Little America Hotel in Flagstaff was built in 1973 and is an absolute throwback to a slower time and place. A married couple my friend and I met the day of our check-in stayed there for their honeymoon in the 70s and have returned several times since.
“What’s the draw that brings you back?” we asked.
“It’s a very special place,” they replied. “You’ll understand after you’ve stayed here.”
Little America Hotel
The Little America Hotel in Flagstaff is situated on 500-acres of sprawling ponderosa pine forest. The hotel features 247 spacious guest rooms and suites offering visitors a relaxed and comfortable stay in a serene setting. Because it’s located just off Interstate-40, it offers easy access to popular attractions such as the Grand Canyon, Sedona, and the Arizona Snowbowl. It’s only a three-mile drive to charming downtown Flagstaff with its amazing restaurants and breweries.
The hotel took its unique name from its original owner, Earl E. Holding. Holding, who at the time owned other Little America hotels in different locations, named the Flagstaff property after the iconic Little America Truck Stop in Wyoming.
The truck stop served as a rest area and service station along the long stretches of highway, providing amenities and hospitality to travelers. The success and positive reputation of the Little America Truck Stop inspired Holding to expand the brand and establish luxury hotels under the same name. Though Little America Hotel Flagstaff is considered luxury, it is not in the least bit pretentious, rather welcoming, warm and friendly.

My king room bed included the softest, most comfortable goose-down pillows. I also had a lovely sitting area and large bath with separate vanity and shower. It was spacious, yet cozy and comforting.
Other room types include Fireplace Suites which feature a marble fireplace framed by two Arcadia doors, a king-sized bed, spacious sitting area and a queen-sized sofa sleeper. A wet bar and roomy bathroom with a soaker tub and three-head rain shower are lovely additions to this gorgeous room.

The lower-level sports a second marble fireplace with queen-sized sleeper sofa, a fully-equipped kitchen, dining table and second full bath.
