As our driver turned down the tree-lined road leading to our temporary home for the week, I noticed my shoulders loosening. I was grinning from ear to ear. The charming Coral Bay Villas Ambergris Caye, Belize vacation rental felt like visiting a friend’s home in a lovely beach setting. That was my first observation. The second was the welcoming empty hammock beneath the palm trees simply waiting for an occupant.
My husband and I were first-time visitors to Belize, but were traveling with friends who were repeat visitors to both the country and Coral Bay Villas. The staff greeted us with a warm welcome as we immediately soaked in the laid-back vibe of this retreat. There is also one, two-bedroom suite. The property is close to shopping, dining, and activities, yet secluded enough to feel private and relaxing. The adults-only resort for ages 18 and over is a perfect getaway for couples and those looking for a quiet tranquil escape.
Perfect Ambergris Caye location
Located in Ambergris Caye towards the south end of San Pedro, Coral Bay Villas is ideal if you prefer to be close to the lively San Pedro town, but not right in the middle of all the activity.
It’s about a 15-minute walk to town or a short bike ride and the best way to get around is renting a golf cart. It’s the preferred mode of transportation on Ambergris Caye and the best way to explore, especially during the heat of the day.
Belize Vacation Rental Accommodations
Each villa in this Ambergris Caye, Belize vacation rental sleeps two and consists of one bedroom, one bath and a full kitchen. There is a small dining area and bar attached to the kitchen. The living area has a futon sofa sleeper, TV, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Our suite felt welcoming and inviting immediately upon arrival. The bedroom was casual and comfortable with a king-sized bed. Standard cooling features in all villas include ceiling fans and air conditioners in the guest rooms, and ceiling fans throughout the rest of the units. Opening the jalousie-style shutters in the main living area usually allowed a tropical breeze to flow through.
Give me a veranda with an ocean view to begin and end the day, and I’m a happy camper! Since the veranda was accessible to the pool and provided a place to keep our snorkel gear, towels, and cocktails, this became the most used location in our villa. It was also the best place to decompress and watch the sunset after a day of activities and adventures.

Other amenities included a lovely pool and Jacuzzi, private beach area, lounges and hammocks, beach towels, complimentary bicycles and two-seater kayaks along with coffee and purified drinking water.
The Staff/Concierge Services
The staff at Coral Bay Villas is exceptional. They greeted our friends with the familiarity of a family returning home. Knowing this was a first-time visit for my husband and me, they made every effort to make us feel at home and always checked in on us to see if we needed anything. Making their guests feel cared for is their top priority, and it’s quite evident.
Concierge Services include arrangements for excursions, golf cart rentals, in-house spa treatments, and shopping services. Before your stay, arrangements can be made to stock your refrigerator and kitchen with food, bottled water, and drinks, so you don’t have to immediately concern yourself with shopping for groceries.
With our pre-arrangements set, from renting our golf cart to planning our extensive list of day trips, we were free to enjoy ourselves. This made it easy to kick back and relax, only concerned with exploring and experiencing Belize.
More ‘Locals’
In addition to the gorgeous views of the ocean and barrier reef, the occasional iguana would stroll by or climb the palm trees. The first time I saw one, I let out a small “eek!”
Though startling at first glance, those big boys are harmless and don’t really interact with people. I’m grateful to them for allowing us to share their space. To learn more about these colorful creatures, you may want to visit the Iguana Eco Corner, where you can watch them in their natural environment. They are fascinating!
