At a recent dinner with friends featuring a selection of succulent oysters including those shipped in from Prince Edward Island, the topic of charming places to stay in Canada came up. Not only is Prince Edward Island known for its fresh oysters and mussels, but the destination was also the setting for the classic “Anne of Green Gables” series of children’s books.

We all agreed that a future visit to this stunning destination just might be in the cards (either a girls’ or couples’ trip), leading to my research on some of the most charming places to stay on the island.

Keep in mind that some amenities on the island are closed during the off-season (mid-October to May), and with the summer popularity of the destination, planning ahead is very important.

Island Gales Cottage-Cavendish

Centrally located from all amenities and activities of Cavendish, the newly renovated vacation home sports three bedrooms plus a loft and two-and-a-half bathrooms. The cottage can sleep up to 10 guests.

The cottage has a vaulted pine ceiling, large windows, a front porch and a lovely landscaped yard with a deck and firepit. The Cavendish National Park Beach and boardwalk are within short walking distance.

Waterfront Beach Cottage

This waterfront cottage nestled in the heart of Anne’s Land on the Prince Edward Island’s North Shore is newly constructed with a blend of modern comfort and natural beauty. Panoramic views of the shimmering waters are impressive and the two-bedroom, one bath can accommodate up to five guests.

You’ll love the picturesque coastal vistas, covered deck and firepits. What an ideal location to share a bottle of wine.

This beautiful two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath vacation cottage is located on a quiet waterfront spot close to Charlottetown. Two large panoramic decks are just steps to the water and a large yard has ample space to relax and play. The area is perfect for beach-combing or just enjoying the wildlife which includes blue herons, hawks, eagles and seals.

The popular north and south shore island beaches are just 20 to 30 minutes away. Sunsets here are stunning.

Cozy Cottage in Argyle Shore

Offering beach access and water views of Southern PEI Red Shores, this cozy beach cottage features two bedrooms, one bath and can sleep up to five guests. And the décor is well…cute and beachy.

It’s hard to beat the location and you’ll love being right on the island’s famous red beach with kayaking opportunities included in the stay along with an outdoor firepit surrounded by comfy Adirondak chairs.

Panmure View Beach House

If you’re planning to travel with family or a group of friends, this vacation rental is ideal. It offers 2,400 square feet of living space on five acres in a tranquil setting overlooking Panmure Island Beach with ocean views from every window in the home.

The four-bedroom, three-bath beach house can accommodate up to 12 guests and the price is an unbelievable value for the location and luxury of this home.

Guests can enjoy the spacious wraparound deck to relax and watch spectacular sunsets and listen to sounds of the surf, beachcomb on miles of sand located just 50 feet from the house.

Miracles on Polly- Memory Lane

The Needlepoint Nest is a fairy-tale themed cabin with an adorable loft space accessed by a captains’ ladder. The loft room features a queen-sized bed and numerous treasures and artwork from Mother Goose tales.

The main level offers a twin-trundle bed with a pullout to sleep two additional guests. The spacious veranda looks out to the Pinette River with a six-person hot tub just off the veranda. A four-person outdoor sauna is shared with two other cabins on property.

Fortune River Cottage

This beautiful log cottage offers three bedrooms and two baths in an absolutely stunning private setting, though world class dining, golf, deep sea fishing and beaches are just a short drive away.

Oceanview Cottage in Stanhope

A year-round winterized cottage is located on the second floor of a carriage house in Stanhope. The one-bedroom, one-bath vacation rental with an outdoor shower can sleep two, making it a romantic getaway for a couple.

Two outdoor decks provide lovely ocean views and it’s only a short walk to area beaches. Guests are also only minutes to the golf course, fresh seafood restaurants, fine dining and other ocean activities.

The Capes at Augustine Cove

This peaceful oceanfront retreat overlooks the warm waters of The Northumberland Strait, offering unobstructed ocean views from every window in the cottage.

The two-bedroom, one bath vacation property can accommodate up to six guests and sports a two-tier deck with a hammock. The eight-person patio set includes reclining loungers and Adirondak chairs. It’s only a short drive to Cavendish Beach, Green Gables and the charming town of Victoria by the Sea.

What a delightful read! These cottage details have sparked an interest for a potential getaway. The charm of Prince Edward Island as described here is irresistible. I do wonder, though, about availability during the peak season—do these places book out quickly? 🤔 If anyone’s planning a stay, it might be worth checking different price points https://world-prices.com/en/canada/prices for a broader perspective, though I’m not sure about the accuracy of the data. Thanks for the inspiration!
