It was so much fun arriving in San Diego and joining up with family for a weekend of fun at our Carlsbad Beach resort inn.
Carlsbad, California is situated between San Diego to the south and Orange County to the north. Its azure skies, cerulean waters and painted sunsets are unforgettable.
With seven miles of picturesque coastline, it offers plenty of room for sun, surf, and sand lovers to get away from the madding crowds of San Diego’s most popular beaches. People swim, surf, bodyboard and fish off its magnificent shores.
The best way to experience the vibe of this Northern San Diego County coastal town is to stay right in the heart of Carlsbad Village, where boutique shops and restaurants are located within an easy walkable two-or-three block area.
Where to Stay in Carlsbad, CA

Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort is an oceanfront boutique vacation rental property featuring guest rooms, suites and condos to accommodate discerning travelers.
My family of four fit perfectly into a fully-furnished one-bedroom condo/villa that featured a bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a queen sleeper sofa in the living room. The villa included a full kitchen, spacious living room and dining area, flat-screen TV and DVD player.
We enjoyed sitting on our private patio facing the pool area offering partial Pacific Ocean views as well.
Because this Carlsbad Beach resort inn offers a variety of accommodations, each of the rooms will differ according to owner’s preferences of décor, but guests can expect that most will include beach-inspired touches.
Carlsbad Beach Inn and Resort

If your family is beach lovers like my family is, you’ll be thrilled to know that Carlsbad State Beach is located just 350-feet from the resort, along with Tamarack State Beach, a mere 550-feet away. Beach cabanas and boogie boards can be rented for a small fee.
The Inn’s outdoor heated swimming pool offers stunning views along with plenty of seating for guests.
A hot tub/jacuzzi is a welcome feature, especially on cool Southern California evenings, which happen often on the coast. The Inn also offers a fitness center, ping pong, and a game room.
Outdoor fire pits are a popular hangout providing welcomed warmth.

What to do at Carlsbad
Golfers will be thrilled the amazing courses in the area, one only two miles from the resort.
A short stroll into town will take you to a selection of bike rental venues and I highly suggest renting an electric bike from Pedego Electric Bikes Carlsbad. These bikes come in handy for exploring the coast, which you should consider, as its so picturesque.
With all the hills, having an electric bike makes the ride easier.
The coastal region also offers great hiking opportunities. For a spectacular experience, Crossings Trail provides a well-maintained path with wide open vistas. The moderate-to-difficult trail is a treat for nature lovers as it meanders through a canyon, past a creek, over a rustic bridge and through riparian zones. At the top of the trail, hikers are rewarded with breathtaking views of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean.
If you’re into kayaking, the Agua Hedionda Lagoon (also known as the Carlsbad Lagoon) with its mud flats, salt and freshwater marsh, and calm deep waters is a wonderful place for a relaxing outdoor adventure.
For those traveling with little ones, LEGOLAND California is just a 19-minute drive from the beach resort. Sea Life Aquarium is only five miles away. If you’re in Carlsbad during the spring, don’t miss the majesty of the Carlsbad Flower Fields awash in vibrant hues and just a 10-minute drive from the resort.

Good Places to Eat in Carlsbad
Though we had a fully stocked kitchen at our Carlsbad Beach resort inn ideal for starting each day with a good cup of coffee and breakfast, we treated ourselves to a few meals out.
Mexican food lovers will appreciate the cuisine and close proximity (around the corner from the resort) of Norte Mexican Food. The lunch and dinner pub offers vibrant, colorful, indoor and outdoor seating, along with an impressive array of menu choices including appetizers, soups, and main dishes. Lunch and daily specials are offered Monday through Friday.
Dini’s Bistro is a six-minute stroll from the resort. The restaurant is located across the street from Carlsbad State Beach and offers flatbreads, salads, seafood, meat entrees and sandwiches in a casual laid-back atmosphere. It’s a great place for a group to meet up and share some good American food with a California twist.
For Italian, we recommend Vigilucci’s Cucina Italiana in the heart of Carlsbad Village, just seven minutes from the inn. The food is incredible, service spectacular, and the trattoria atmosphere offers its own unique charm. A daily happy hour is a favorite among the locals, so you know this is the place to go.
Save room for some Tiramisu, Cannoli, Torta or other delectable desserts.
The next time you’re planning a San Diego area getaway, consider a stay in Carlsbad. Everything about this spectacular surfing town is relaxing, easy and a whole lot of fun.
The Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort made it an even more memorable weekend for my family.
