This one is a bit personal for me, as I owned this fabulous Amelia Island vacation rental with my parents for ten years. We sold it last year to a great couple, but it still looks almost exactly the same (in a good way)!

Before I tell you about this special place, a quick note for those who aren’t familiar with this area. If you’re trying to figure out what’s in Fernandina Beach vs. what’s on Amelia Island, here’s a primer. The entire island has a Fernandina Beach postal address…but so does a huge area just off the island. Here’s an easy way to remember it: all of Amelia Island is Fernandina Beach (although not all in the city limits), but not all of Fernandina Beach is on Amelia Island.

An Amelia Island Vacation Rental in Forest Ridge Village

This Amelia Island VRBO is located roughly mid-island in terms of north-south and one block back from the beach on the East side of the island in a complex called Forest Ridge. It’s a beautiful complex with big oak trees, several ponds, green space for throwing a ball or frisbee, a grilling and picnic area, a playground for the kiddos, two tennis courts and a big pool. There’s nothing else like it that close to the beach.

Open Living Area

One of the things that attracted us to this property when we bought it in 2010 was the big open floorplan in the living room, kitchen and dining area. I’m not going to liewe loved being able to watch the TV while cooking or eating! We put in a giant 55″ TV and had lots of great movie nights in that condo.

There’s also plenty of room here for your whole clan to gather. Whether you’re cooking together or just relaxing after a busy day of sun and fun, you can all share the same space without feeling like you’re on top of one another.

Large Master Bedroom Separate from the Two Guest Bedrooms

The spacious master bedroom is located on the first floor of the townhome and features a king-size bed. It has sliding glass doors that lead onto the oversized balcony, which you can also enter from the living room. We replaced the sliding glass doors just before we sold with new ones that have blinds inside the doors, allowing you to control just how much (or how little) light you want.

The master bathroom is split into two separate rooms, one with the sink and a full-size washer and dryer enclosed behind bi-fold doors, and the other with the shower and toilet. A large walk-in closet is just off the bathroom with plenty of room to hang all your sundresses other fun vacation attire.

Upstairs in the townhome, you’ll find two guest bedrooms and a shared guest bath. The larger of the two bedrooms has a queen-size bed with room left for a dresser, chair and ottoman. There’s also a walk-in closet with plenty of room for all your things. This isn’t a house where you’re going to feel crammed in!

The third bedroom has two twin beds and a closet. Although it’s a great room for kids, I’ve slept here many times when our whole family was in the house and had plenty of space.

All three bedrooms have televisions, so if you love TV as much as my family, you’re going to love this vacation rental in Fernandina Beach!

Amelia Island Beaches

Maybe I’m biased because I live here and grew up vacationing here, but I think we have some of the best beaches in the world! Our 13 miles of wide, sandy beaches have plenty of room for walking, sunbathing or throwing a frisbee. Unlike some other beaches I’ve visited, you won’t have to wake up at the crack of dawn to go down and save your spot!

Bordered by an extensive dune system covered in dune sunflowers, natural grasses and more, the natural beauty of our beaches is unmatched. And the water? It’s warm enough to swim in nearly year-round! During the summer it gets into the low 80s, and even when my friends make their annual visit in October it’s plenty of warm enough for a dip when we’ve baked in our beach chairs for awhile.

All of this sits just one block from this beautiful townhome, and since the beach access doesn’t have its own parking, you’ll get to enjoy a nice, quiet stretch of our beautiful beach. Grab a chair and stay awhile!
